A little while ago Ferrari issued the message a double announcement which communicates the hiring of Loic Serra and Jerome d'Ambrosio. The latter will have purely organizational tasks considering that in Mercedes, alongside Team Principal Toto Wolff, he managed the young driver program of the Stuttgart company.
Certainly more "heavy" is the name of Serra whose CV attracted the interest of Frédéric Vasseur in search of a technical expert in the field of suspensions and tires; an area in which Ferrari, with the SF-24, has made giant strides but in which it feels the need to produce the definitive sprint to match - or even surpass - the Red Bull teachers.
Serra comes from a very long experience which was enriched by the work done alongside Aldo Costa, one of the architects of the recent successes of Mercedes which we remember as the team that has the longest winning streak in the history of Formula One.
Loic Serra, born in 1972, he has a degree in mechanical engineering. After university he joined Michelin, a company in which he developed in-depth knowledge of tires and suspension mechanisms.
Work done excellently, which makes his name circulate among the top flight teams. In 2006 he moved to Formula 1, to BMW-Sauber where he would be head of performance.
It was in 2010 that the transfer to Mercedes took place, which was laying the foundations for the domination that began in 2014. In Brackley, until January 2013, he was chief engineer vehicle engineering and then head of vehicle dynamics. In 2018 the further promotion in the role of performance director.

Loic Serra: precious resource for Ferrari's needs
The transalpine specialist actually contributed to solving the problems that Mercedes had with tire management before the advent of turbo-hybrid engines, when the golden era of the team began.
If the various Silver Arrows that have followed one another in history managed the coverage to perfection it is thanks to the wisdom of Serra. It is no coincidence that the W15, which was unable to count on the technical contribution of the French engineer already betrothed to Maranello, is suffering particularly in this fundamental area.
A big man hired by the Prancing Horse and who will officially take up service on October 1st, just in time to work on the 2026 cars. Another piece of the puzzle that Frédéric Vasseur is slowly building, but with very specific ideas, to bring Ferrari to the top of the world.
