Work necessary to resist in calendar, works required to adapt a historic track to the passing of time and to the new needs that arise. Monza has postponed what needed to be done for too long, but has now accelerated the restructuring programme.
The Italian GP will take place on the weekend from 30 August to 1 September. Not everything that has been designed and theorized will be ready, but a good part of the interventions will be made available, making more functional areas that almost passively suffered the passing of the years and were objectively obsolete to fulfill their function, especially in the presence of the general public.
Grandstands, underpasses and resurfacing of the road surface: these are the interventions that should be completed in the near future. But with different deadlines. What will catch the eye and which the fans should particularly appreciate will be the new stands. Within these, real units will be created equipped with services that are currently missing. But these facilities will not be seen immediately.
The roof of this structure will take the shape of the open wings of birds and the ailerons of single-seaters, in an architectural design that will characterize the Brianza facility, making it immediately recognisable.
The products, which replace those made with unsightly iron pipes, will be made, after the necessary approvals, by Sportium, a company specialized in the development of latest generation sports facilities.

F1, Monza GP: the new grandstands to be strong in the negotiations with the FOM
These new areas will be built after the 2024 GP. For now, work is being done on underpasses and on the resurfacing of the entire road surface. The stands will also serve as a business card for the ACI, which wanted the intervention, to be stronger at the negotiating table in terms of renewal.
Monza's link with F1 expires at the end of 2025 and competition from other countries is very intense. We therefore need to raise the bar of average quality to secure a new and long contract. Money is not enough (which will be a lot), Liberty Media requires higher standards that are in step with the times.
The structures that will be built, decidedly lighter and more functional, will act as a connecting element between the park and the racetrack. These will be equipped with all the services that are currently missing: toilets first and foremost, but also catering services, more comfortable seats, sky boxes forhospitality.
The estimated cost for the first constructions is 9 million euros. «With the Municipality we are managing the design phase of the new stands and the covering of the garages – explained the president of ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani to Corriere della Sera – it's not just about aesthetics, prestige or image, but the aim is to improve the offer and arrive with the documents in order for the renewal of the contract in 2025”.

The Monza park is protected by various restrictions, so it is necessary to respect its history and essence. For this reason, for the construction, prefabricated modular modules will be used that allow you to add, combine or subtract elements and, therefore, to modify the capacity to meet the changing needs of the entire life cycle of the building. All this while maintaining the reversibility of the intervention.
The materials will be sustainable from an environmental point of view with a photovoltaic system on the roof to ensure energy self-sufficiency and a solar thermal system for the production of domestic hot water. The next phase of the work involves the design of a first batch of stands for a total of approximately 6,000 seats.
Then the bureaucratic process will begin with the relevant and necessary authorizations. And let's hope that there isn't a hitch here in a country that often gets lost among the meanders of technical offices. Liberty Media He doesn't give weight to these details, he will only look at the result. And perhaps this will serve as a decisive push to adapt Monza to the present and relaunch it in the future.
