43°C for the asphalt, 28 for the air. These are the conditions in which the Sprint Race of the Austrian Grand Prix took place. Medium tires for all the protagonists for the 24 laps of the race. All with used tires except the Stake Sauber duo.
The first start is canceled and the management decides on a further training round. At the start “true” Verstappen maintains his position. Behind him the two McLarens engaged in a duel which was won by the Briton. The Ferraris did well: Sainz overtook Russell at the exit of turn 6, Leclerc got the better of the Alpines and then Perez's RB20.
On lap 7 Norris tries to get ahead of Verstappen who, with a masterpiece, reacts and regains the lead. Piastri takes advantage of this and passes his teammate.
After 8 laps, Ferrari suffered a drop in tire performance. Russell immediately got the better of Sainz who then queued up in DRS to defend himself from Lewis Hamilton's attacks.
Little or nothing happens up front. The usual Verstappen wins who, having opened a safety margin, managed with ease. Behind him Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris completes the podium.
